Sri N. Kasturi was admitted in the hospital on August 7. ,1987 with low blood pressure and bleeding at rectum. An intravenous drip was started and the patient was on a conservative line of management On 14 August 1987, he passed a lot of blood clots. Swami came ,and stood before him ,” Kasturi, see who has come . See Swami has come to you . Go on looking at Me, don’t think of the past, don’t think of your son Murty , don’t think of anything else, you only think of Me. Kasturi kept on looking at Swami with a smiling face. Swami materialised Vibhuti and gave it in the hands of Mr. Kasturi’s daughter, Padma ,and asked her to put it in water and give her father sips of it to drink . Swami walked down to the central hall of the hospital and called Dr. Chari, ” “Chari, Kasturi is very popular person in Karnataka State He was a radio artist There will be an announcement in All India Radio. So, the funeral must be very grand. You arrange for music bands for the funeral procession ” Dr. Chari said,” Yes, Swami,” Swami was laughing and then said,” Chari only one band is enough.” Swami continued,”Do you know why? ” Swami turned and looked at the doctors with a mischievous smile and said,” Do you know why one music band? Our doctors will start the first music band They chant ” OM Sri Sairam” in such a way that even if the soul doesn’t want to leave the body, it will leave the body immediately. ” Swami laughed loudly and said,” you, doctors yes, you can start now” The doctors were looking at each other and Swami said,” Go to his room and start” They went to Kasturi’s room He kept on looking at Swami’s photo and he closed his eyes peacefully. He stopped breathing on 14 August, 1987. What a humorous send off by Bhagawan to a humourist and poet. #sathyasai #saibhakta

Importance of Human Birth As explained by Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba ********* Sri Sathya Sai Baba has said: “A human birth is the most sacred one among the 84 lakhs (84,00,000) of different living beings in this creation. To attain such a sacred birth is a great fortune, indeed.” (Ref.: Baba the Breath of Sai, Page 311) “The traditional number of created beings is 84 lakhs, and man is the final item of the evolutionary procession; but, why did the number stop at 84 lakhs? It stopped because man is the zenith, the fullness; he is Madhav in fact, though he has ignored the truth and holds fast to the belief that he is just a man. He is endowed with Manas, Buddhi, Chitta and Ahankaar (Mind, Intelligence, Reasoning faculty and Ego), all four, in an integrated personality, whereas the birds and beasts and all other species have mostly Ahankaar (Ego) alone. The lives of the later are centred round the aham and its desires and demands. But, man has the capacity to follow Satya, Dharma, Shanti and Prem; man alone has it. If he does not evince that capacity and develop it, he is as bad as a Vaanar or a Daanav (Ape or Ogre). When man was created, there remained nothing higher to create.” (SSS Vol. 6-15) “Having taken birth thousand and thousand of cores of times, as a result of the accumulated merits, at some time the being gets the human birth. Having obtained the human birth which is difficult to get and which is like a step to Liberation who is more sinful than him who does not uplift himself.” (Garuda Puran and Sai Teachings, Path to Liberation, Page 29) “Man is the most sacred of all the animals. To be born as a man is an extraordinary gift. Therefore, man must use this life of his in a purposeful manner. The disciples of Shankar (Lord Shiv) have pointed out that man remains in a miserable state in the womb of the mother during this cycle of birth and death. He gets some relief from such suffering after his birth. Therefore, he must make life a sacred one.” (Baba the Breath of Sai, Page 108) #sathyasai #saibhaķta

The Story behind the photo – 161 – The Lord rescues you from Karmic effects. It was a classical late evening time in Kodaikanal. After Bhajans and Darshan times, the students accompanying Bhagavan, were sitting in front of Swami. Sometimes Bhagavan encourages the boys to ask questions and from there Swami will give discourses to those selective audiences. It will be a wonderful and thrilling sessions with the Lord. One day the topic of Guru – Sishya relationship and God and devotees relationship came up for discussions. Swami makes it look very easy, all these high level spiritual subjects. A guru, if he is a genuine Guru, can show the spiritual Path to his disciple, and guide him in his spiritual Sadhana. But the Lord when pleased with the devotee can lift him and expedite his spiritual journey by helping to overcome the hurdles of Bad Karmic effects. There was a small example also (Oka china Udhaharnamu>.).. A disciple falls from a hill, to the depth of a valley. To save him, the guru throws a strong rope to him and asks him to hold on to the rope steadily and try to climb up. There after, it is up to the disciple to have a strong grip on the rope, and to put all his efforts to climb up inch by inch. The Guru shows the path, and disciple has to tread the path for safety. But the God do not use a rope at all. God can rescue and save a devotee all by Himself. The devotee has to just submit and surrender to God. Here Bhagavan tells about the Marjaara marg, (the cat and Kitten method). The young kitten has just to submit and the mother will pick it up with her mouth, and takes it to safe places. Swami expect the same type of devotion and surrender attitude. When your attitude is attuned to highest level of Saranagathi (surrender), the rescue operation will also be smoother and faster. With Love & Regards, Mumbai Srinivasan. #sathyasai #saibhakta

On the Occasion of Swami’s AVATAR DECLARATION DAY, I wish all my brothers & sisters a Happy, Peaceful, Long, Healthy & Divine Life <3 <3 <3 20th October every year is celebrated as the Avatar Declaration Day. It is on this historically significant day in the year 1940 that the young lad Sathyanarayana Raju revealed to the world His Divine identity and the glorious mission on which He has come. The following lines capture the events on that epochal day: Sathyanarayana started for school as usual. However, within a few minutes, He returned to the house. Standing on the outer doorstep, He cast aside the books He was carrying and called out, “I am no longer your Sathya. I am Sai.” The sister-in-law came from the kitchen, only to be blinded by the splendour of the halo around Baba's head! He addressed her, “I am going; I don't belong to you; Maya (delusion) has gone; My Bhaktas (devotees) are calling Me; I have My Work; I can't stay here any longer." When the brother hurried home on hearing all this, Baba only told him, "Give up all your efforts to 'cure' Me. I am Sai; I do not consider Myself related to you". In spite of repeated pleas, Sathya would not step into that building again. He moved in into the garden of the Excise Inspector Sri Anjaneyulu's bungalow, and sat on a rock in the midst of the trees. People came into the garden from all directions bringing flowers, fruits, incense and camphor to worship Him. The garden resonated with the voices of hundreds singing bhajans (devotional singing) and following the lines of the first prayer that Sri Sathya Sai taught them. “Manasa Bhajare Gurucharanam Dusthara Bhava Sagara Tharanam “ (O Mind! Meditate on the Feet of the Guru, which will take you across the wearisome sea of Samsara or worldly existence.) To celebrate this landmark event in Baba’s life, the Avatar Declaration Day is celebrated every year with devotion and gratitude. Excerpts from Bhagawan’s Discourses: In 2002, Avatar Declaration Day discourse Swami recalled His childhood days and shared with everyone His early years. #sathyasai #Saibhakta

*HIS STORY IN HIS VOICE:* Sri Sathya Sai Baba narrates what happened on 20th October 1940 in Uravakonda, (about 5 hours from Puttaparthi) when He declared to the world He is Sathya Sai Baba. Sri Sathya Sai Message to The Differently Abled Sunday, October 01, 1995 Bhagavan distributed to a large number of artificial limbs, calipers etc. which were made to size by technicians from Jaipur Foot Industries, to handicapped people in Sai Kulwant Hall on 1st October 1995. The recipients were filled with gratitude for His blessings. Sri Sathya Sai distributing Tricycles at Prasanthi Nilayam In the Discourse that followed He said: “Human life is immensely precious. But this sacred life is haunted by troubles of various kinds of daily living. Life is like an ocean carrying waves of pleasures and pain. In his ordinary life man is driven by innumerable desires to seek worldly pleasures of various kinds. This precious life is rendered meaningless and worthless by the pursuit of these mundane desires. The body is essential for living. Without it man cannot accomplish anything. Human life is a composite of body, mind, and spirit. But man today ignores the mind and spirit and wastes his life by preoccupation with the body alone. The mind is the most important organ in the body. It is vital for doing anything. Man’s life is based on the mind. The universe is filled with mental consciousness. The cosmos is rooted in the mind. The mind is a bundle of thoughts. Hence man has to purify the mind by sacred thoughts. Only when he has noble thoughts he can lead an ideal life. Out of thoughts are born the desires. Desires activate the mind. Hence it is necessary to keep desires under control. Dharma can be achieved through the body alone Society tends to look askance at persons with physical disabilities. But limbs are not so very important. What is more essential is a pure mind. If all one’s limbs are perfect, but if one’s mind is impure, of what use are the limbs? However, man can achieve what he desires, only if all the limbs in the body are in good shape. Man should make good use of all his organs to lead an ideal life. Every living being has come into existence for a purpose. Hence everyone should strive to use his body for the purpose for which he has been endowed with it. #sathyasai #saibhakta

Conversations with Sri Sathya Sai on the Convocation Drama Casting Monday, October 16, 2000 After the interview, Swami came to the Ganesh portico. He looked at His wrist as if to see time. Then to a student… Swami: It is already 4.05 pm, Brindavan boys have not come. Student: (He checked the time in his watch.) Yes, Swami. They may be on the way. Sri Sathya Sai in the Sai Kulwant Hall at Prasanthi Nilayam Swami went further and sat on His chair. He inquired about the teachers who are doing the security duty in the fourth block. He also called the Brindavan Warden, and asked him about the students who are going to play different roles in the Convocation Drama. Few of the students came forward. Swami: (To Prof. Anil Kumar) The drama has roles of grandfather, father and a grandson. There are also scenes of Markandeya (Markandeya is an ancient sage from the Hindu tradition, born in the clan of Bhrigu Rishi. He is celebrated as a devotee of both Shiva and Vishnu and is mentioned in a number of stories from the Puranas. The Markandeya Purana especially, comprises a dialogue between Markandeya and Sage Jaimini, and a number of chapters in the Bhagavata Purana are dedicated to his conversations and prayers. In the drama, the episode of Markandeya, Shiva and Yama was to be depicted.) and Dhurva (Dhruva is a devotee of Lord Vishnu and the son of Utthanapaada. His story is recorded in the Vishnu Purana and the Bhagavata Purana.). (To Dr. Chatterjee, Faculty Member in the Department of English at Swami’s University) How many scenes? Teacher: Six scenes, Swami. Swami: Arishadvargas (Six bad qualities in man). Give the grandfather role to Anil Kumar. (To Prof. Anil Kumar) Will you do? Prof. A. K.: Yes, Swami. Swami: Grandfather is a bad man. Prof. A. K.: Then I don’t want to do that role. Swami: No, he is good man. His grandson is always near him. I am not involved in the selections (of the students for the different roles in the Convocation Drama). They (teachers from both the campuses) only selected. Swami said that they should not feel that Swami is partial to any one campus in selecting the roles and hence teachers are selecting. #sathyasai #saibhakta
