A certain person was a captain during the Second World War, but since he died of a commonplace disease in a civil hospital, his widow did not get much by way of pension. So she had to earn some money teaching music, in order to keep her three children – two daughters and a son – in elementary ease. The son passed his B.Sc. examination with a first class from the Madras University, while still in his teens. The army authorities gave him a job in their cantonment office at Bangalore. His mother, who was overwhelmed with joy, sent him to offer homage to the family deity, Venkatachalapthi, in the temple on the Thirumalai Hills in Andhra Pradesh, so that he could join duty at Bangalore with divine blessings. However, what did happen was that the boy got drowned in the holy tank of the temple. His body was in police custody for two days as it was unidentified. The anxious mother was confronted by the photograph of her son’s corpse wh ich appeared in the daily papers. But, Baba appeared to her in a dream and directed her to come to Puttaparthi. There she was taken by a mysterious stranger to the Presence. Bhagavan called her and her children for the precious interview. “Don’t weep,” He said, “for your son who led a disciplined life and was full of devotion, has now merged with God. When he has found the lotus feet of Bliss, you should not indulge in grief.” But she could not be consoled. Then Baba said, “I know your heart is broken since you could not have even a last glimpse of his body. See, it is here.” Saying this, He spread His palm in front of her, and she could clearly see the events of that fateful pilgrimage appear upon it: The son slipped on the steps of the tank, and a few people jumped in to save him. It was too late. Even first-aid could not revive him. A lotus-like bunch of flames rose from his body and proceeded towards the innermost shrine where the idol of Venkatachalapathi is installed, disappearing in a blaze of glory at the Lord’s feet. Then she saw the idol come alive and change into a charming image of Baba Himself. #sathyasai #saibhakta

*Swami’s divine teachings on singing bhajans, its rule, etc..* In a Divine Discourse delivered in 1968, Swami teaches us how bhajan singing should be conducted: “Have bhajans (group singing of devotional songs) on as many days as you can, in your village or area. Have them in places where all can come and join, and not in the homes of some people, for in homes not all maybe welcome. Have them as simple as you can, without competitive pomp or show; reduce expenses to a minimum, for God cares for the inner yearning and not the outer trappings. Even this small unavoidable expenditure must be silently shared spontaneously by a few members of the Committee, and not collected by means of a plate or hundi pot, or a subscription or donation list. “The participants must be bound by love, affection and loyalty to one Name and Form. Bhajans are best held on Thursday evenings and Sunday evenings – but that is no unbreakable rule, for it is not the day of the week that counts. It is the heart that must be ready and eager to imbibe the joy and share it. As a matter of fact, bhajan is a constant exercise; it has to be as essential as breathing.” In a DivineDiscourse in 1974, Swami sternly reprimands those conceited bhajan leaders who sing for pomp and praise: “Bhajans (congregational devotional singing) have to be sung and offered to God in an attitude of utter humility; they are not to be taken as exercises in an exhibition of talents and as competitions for mastery of musical skill. They have to please the Lord, not your fans. With each bhajan song, the mind must be rendered purer, freer from passion, and stronger in faith. But, you find that you do not succeed in this task. The adoration does not arise from the heart; nor is it addressed to the Supreme by the sincere Self. It is tainted by the admixture of envy, pride and hate. How can prayers so fouled reach God? #sathyasai #saibhakta

Sri Sathya Sai is Lord Sri Dattatreya In every age He incarnates…. the Ancient One…Adi Guru Lord Dattatreya… Divine legends of yore has umpteen reference of Divine Incarnations…and about ‘The Oneness’ of all these varied forms… Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Who Is ‘The Aadimoolam’, Supreme Divinity, Who described Himself as Shiv – Shakti, Supreme Brahmam and Maha Maya in a Single Form… has also revealed Himself to be Lord Dattatreya… verily He Is Lord Dattatreya… read on how Bhagavan revealed His original entity as Lord Dattatreya… O Bhagavan, “Swami, what is Your real form?” Baba smiled and replied, “Bangaroo, I will show it to you some day.” That day came when Baba visited Mudumalai forest. One day after breakfast, Baba walked on to the beautiful meadow in front of the guest house and posed for photographs with every member of the party. A Polaroid camera was used by a student to click the photographs. The photos were given to the members instantly. Finally, Baba asked the student to take a snap of Him standing alone. But, the lower part of His orange robe had been caught in the twigs of a bush. Before the camera clicked, Smt. Ratanlal rushed forward to set right the folds of the robe. Everyone was astonished when Bhagavan shouted at her loudly “Don’t touch Me!” and she retreated quickly. After the camera clicked, Baba held the photo coming out of the camera and gave it to Sri Joga Rao. As he held it in his palm, the black and white Polaroid picture developed gradually. But he was astonished at what did he saw. In the place where he had expected to see Baba’s form in the usual robe, there stood a young human form, which wore a white flowing garment, had three heads and six hands! Each arm was holding an insignia of Divinity. The lower right arm bent at the elbow, was resting on the back of a majestic young cow. The face in the centre was that of Baba! It was the form of Dattatreya as described in Puranas, the integrated form of Trinity – Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwar! Baba had answered Sri Joga Rao’s question. That was His real form! Bhagavan confirmed while speaking to the students at Trayee Vrundavan the next morning that it was indeed His true form.
