On November 1, 1971, the Krishnaraj Rai-Vrinda Rai couple gave birth to a blue-eyed baby girl. Since the family members were Baba devotees, the parents decided to take the baby to Puttaparthi to seek Swami’s blessings. The Rai couple had named the baby “Aishwarya” by this time and Swami, when holding the baby in his arms, asked them about the name. Swami whispered the name softly in the baby’s ears and blessed her. Swami then clarified to the parents that ‘Aishwarya’ might mean wealth for the ignorant but its true meaning was ‘Easwarapriya’ (the one beloved to the Almighty). He went on to say that the baby would grow up to be an embodiment of all true virtues. Aishwarya Rai attended Swami’s school as a Bal Vikas student in Bombay at the Dharmashektra where she participated in seva, bhajans and studies. The Bombay organisers at the Dharmashektra used to select Aishwarya is their favorite Bal Vikas to garland Swami whenever he visited Bombay. In 1991, Rai won an international supermodel contest (organised by Ford) and was eventually featured in the American edition of Vogue. She was crowned the Miss World title in 1994 and went into films. Even to this day Aishwarya Rai sings bhajans and does pujas for our Swami every day, since her Bal Vikas days. #sathyasai #saibhakta
